Who We Are
Taralynn Dixon, is the maker and wearer of all hats at Playful Day Yarns. “In 2018 I began playing with color and adding it to yarn. I knew immediately that I had found my biggest creative passion yet! (And let me tell you there have been a lot!) Above all, I am a curious and playful human, maker and dreamer. I live in the beautiful city of Petaluma in Sonoma County California in a small & old, (yet cozy) home with my husband, 2 kiddos, and 2 dogs. Between working at my hand dyed yarn business by day and knitting by night, my hands spend an exuberant amount of time each day touching (and petting) yarn and I couldn’t love it more! Ultimately I am finally doing what I have always dreamed of doing… working hard to be able to make creating with all my heart, for a living!”
Playful Day Yarns was born out of a place of creativity and PLAY and will always be the driving force and motivation behind what Taralynn does. She dyes both superwash and non-superwash yarn in a variety of fibers such as Merino, Silk, Alpaca, Cashmere, Mohair, Suri, as well as local Tunis. Both low impact citric acid dye & natural dyes are used and both from notable natural dye resources and/or from her very own local gatherings!
Taralynn finds a lot of meaning in supporting local and/or small business and does so as much as possible. She tries to approach each day as an opportunity for another playful adventure! Never short of creative ideas both in her personal and “professional” life and will need to live many lives to do them all!
