Who We Are
Retrograde Coffee Roasters was founded by baristas Danielle Connor and Casey Lanski in 2014. Back then, we roasted our coffee out of our home kitchen and would truck our coffee cart around to countless farmer’s markets and events.
Retrograde is going back to the basics of what we love: specialty coffee, community connections and hand made provisions. Our focus is in the details with our small batch coffee roasting and value-based approach to everything we do.
As Retrograde moves forward, we maintain our focus on the details and how it impacts the world around us. We strive to improve the lives of others by extending kindness to all, creating sustainable careers in coffee, giving back to our local community, schools, organizations and non-profits and committing to taking care of our Earth through our green business practices.
When we began Retrograde, we knew we had to incorporate the same eco-friendly lifestyle we were already living into our business practices. As two California natives, we grew up aware of the effects of climate change and have only seen them worsen during our lives. We’ve witnessed periods of rolling “brown-outs” in the summer, lived through many droughts, floods and fires. The message is clear: there needs to be change. It’s not only the consumer’s responsibility, but the responsibility of every single company too. This is why we became a California Certified Green Business in 2019.
At the coffee shop level, we offer an array of specialty beverages and fresh prepared food served by a team of upbeat and passionate individuals. There’s something for everyone with plenty of vegan, gluten free and sugar free options available. We take great pride in crafting our provisions using wholesome organic ingredients sourced locally from Sonoma County whenever possible, including working with local family farmers.
